SATELLITE DIGI BOX TIPS FOR TUNING /
INSTALLING IN SPAIN
1) To get the best from your box in southern Spain it should be:
a) connected via double screen low loss satellite cable to
b) a dish of at least 1 metre and optimally 1.3 metre diameter, with
c) a good quality low s/n ratio (<0.6dB) LNB (thingy on the end of the
dish arm)
d) and ALL connections should be checked for shorts or problems
2) Always connect your box in this sequence, (and disconnect in reverse
order);
a) aerial or dish connection
b) SCART or RF cables (or both if used) connections to your TV/VCR.
c) mains cable.
3) Once everything is correctly connected, turn Digibox on by pressing the
red illuminated button, which should turn green.
4) Turn on your TV which should be set to an AV channel
5) Leave your box to locate the channels - (be patient it could take
several minutes- longer in overcast or bad weather conditions)
6) When it has located channels, it should show a blank screen with a
banner showing channel 998
7) Point the SKY remote at the BOX (NOT TV), and press 501 this is the
channel number for SKY News, and is the strongest signal available in
Spain. Provided you get a good clear picture and no break up or pixilation
then everything is fine.
8) Try other channels - 101 BBC1, 102 BBC2, 103 ITV1 (PRESS TV GUIDE
BUTTON for full list)
9 If you have a SKY card insert it now making sure it is FACE DOWN (Blue
side/Yellow house up), and in the direction indicated by the two chevrons
--->>. AND. . .
MOST IMPORTANTLY IN THE SKY VIEWING CARD SLOT.
10) The card determines any extra channels that will be available. If it's
a simple FTV card, it will allow you receive Ch4 and CH5 in addition to
the normal Free to Air channels, PROVIDED YOU CAN RECEIVE A SIGNAL! (CH4
needs 1.3 mt dish and good weather, CH5 needs the same when available!)
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you have no picture, firstly check ALL connections and repeat 1-7
above. If still no picture suspect dish not aligned/faulty LNB or cable.
Check and remedy, repeat 1-7 above.
If you get a message such as 'No satellite Signal' or 'Listings not
available' then perform the following carefully:
1) On the SKY remote press the blue SERVICES button, then 4,6 - this
should show SIGNAL TEST, and the following:
Signal Strength ########
Signal Quality ###
Lock Indicator OK
Network ID 0002
Tr'port Steam 07d4 (could be slightly different)
If it doesn't then suspect dish not aligned/faulty LNB or cable. Check and
remedy, repeat 1-7 above.
2) If the above is more or less the same as what you see on the screen,
then press back up, then 0,1,and select This will put you into the
INSTALLER MENU. Select 2, which will display DEFAULT TRANSPONDER, and the
following:
Frequency (GHz) 11.778
Polarisation
V
SymbolRate(Mbaud) 27.5
FEC
2/3
Save New Settings
CAREFULLY! press 12207 on the remote, which will change the 11.778 to
12.207.
Press the blue up arrow button on the remote ONCE ^
This will highlight the Save New Settings line.
Press Select.
Now select 5 - Manual Tuning, this should display a similar screen as
above with two differences.
Frequency should read 12.207, and the last option should be Find Channels.
Press the blue up arrow ^ once. With Find Channels highlighted press
Select.
This should display a screen similar to 1) above but with stronger signal
and higher quality, and possibly a different Transport stream reading.
Press select. Press the ORANGE button on the remote. Press Select.
It should say 'Channel Line-up complete'. Press Select. Then back up 4
times.
Go back to 7 above. Happy viewing! (or PANIC!) |
