Life and living in Southern Spain by David Robson.

The adventure begins - 9

Rather than 'hot footing it' out of town, we stayed for the day to explore.

Our original plan had included "keeping a score sheet".

This consisted of a small notebook containing brief details and descriptions of towns / villages / areas, visited, PLUS a score out of 10.

Upto visiting Almuņecar, the highest score had been 4 - on first impressions this looked like it could be a 8 or 9 at least.

We liked the atmosphere, we were besotted by the old town's narrow winding streets filled with interesting little shops and bustling people.

The street cafes and bars were great for people watching.

The sun was shining - what more would anyone want? - it was difficult not to call off the rest of the plan and stay there, but we were determined to 'check out the rest'.

Reluctantly, we decided to carry on and head east.

But we decided to schedule a return visit of at least two days.

We wanted to sample the sites, the beach, the restaurants, the cafes and the coffee, not to mention the food, and the people.

Plus, of course, we wanted to look in the estate agent windows and get a feel for property and prices.  Up, up and away!

back                                           to be continued . . . . .
