Broadband in Spain
There are over 26.5 million people with access to the internet in Spain,
which accounts for around 66% of the population and consequently puts
Spain 13th in the overall world rankings in terms of internet users
within a single country. Of that larger percentage nearly 7 and a half
million people have broadband internet connections, a number which
places them at 10th in the global broadband charts. This means that as
the industry grows which it invariably will as the demand for fast
broadband internet increases and as prices fall across the market there
will be tougher competition for the existing broadband providers. As a
result there are some great deals and a wealth of options when it comes
to choosing a broadband provider in Spain. Let’s look at the main
providers and the packages they offer.

ONO
If you’re looking for an all in one telecommunications and entertainment
package the ONO may have what you’re after. For example, a triple play
package that includes home phone service, broadband internet at 3Mbps
and a TV package will set you back €49.90 a month. Services of up to
50Mbps are available in certain areas of Madrid thanks to fibre optic
technology so if that’s in your area and price range you’ll have all the
speed you’ll ever need.

Telefonica
Second largest company in Spain and operator of the largest ADSL
broadband service network in the country, Telefonica have the power to
reach the largest proportion of the population. On a 12 month contract
with internet and home phone included you will pay just €29.90 and
receive download speeds of up to 6Mbps using your exiting land line
connection. For just €3 more each month you can add a television service
to this deal, and as always the more you combine the more you save.

Jazztel
 - Another provider of coveted triple play phone, internet and TV
packages, you can also get basic ADSL starting from as little as €7.95
per month for the first three months or up the spending and the value by
adding in other services. There’s also a free wireless router included
in the cost for every new customer, which is great if you’ve just moved
to Spain and haven’t got compatible equipment. Services from 6Mbps up
to 20Mbps are available in some areas so check your postal code or
telephone number online to see whether you’re eligible

Ya.com
Another ADSL provider offering numerous packages including a 10Mbps
service for just €13.97 a month for the first three months which
represents good value for a high speed connection. With a 12 month
contract and a free router included in the deal there’s lots to like.

Other Options
If you want an alternative to land line broadband then mobile broadband
is an option. It`s offered by most mobile telecommunications networks in
Spain, notably Orange, and provides high speed downloads to a PC or Laptop
using 3G networks rather than ADSL or Cable lines.  Use a price comparison
shop online to find the best deals in your area and compare the monthly costs
and contract lengths.

Masmovil
is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator who piggyback on the Orange mobile
network in Spain but they are becoming market leaders in terms of price and
service availability. They offer the cheapest mobile broadband available in
Spain, with the option to surf on your mobile or on your laptop using a USB
modem. Prices start at just 3 cents per megabyte of data used over your
connection, so 25 MB will cost just 75 cents.
